PSYCHOLOGICAL & RETIREMENT SUPPORT

PSYCHOLOGICAL & RETIREMENT SUPPORT

Care for Senior citizens and elderly dependents takes a big chunk off the income of households in Nigeria. The economic impact of this responsibility becomes even more daunting in a culture where elders are revered and provided with a cultural retirement by family members who must cater to their needs, care and support

Oftentimes, the psychological and financial burden of caring for elderly family members, who are in the most part sick, frail and dependent, can prove overwhelming, especially in a culture like Nigeria’s where hospices, adult day care centres and nursing homes are not always an option.

The Isabella Ayuk Foundation is a firm believer in the power of education as the only true escape from poverty.

Nigeria is home to millions of out-of-school children, a reality amplified by insecurity and poverty. And the figures continue to rise, making education the most valuable social infrastructure under the most threat.

To close the gap and keep more children in the classrooms, Isabella Ayuk Foundation is implementing strategies that support better and effective learning for all.

IAF has provided scholarships, school bags, school desks, uniforms and writing materials to 2000 primary and secondary schools students in Abuja, Nasarawa and Cross River states from 2012 till date.

In Cross River State alone, the foundation has renovated ten blocks of classrooms and donated learning materials for use across primary and secondary schools.

IAF has also assisted several pupils and students across communities with educational scholarship funding, taking the burden of cost from families and lowering the number of street children who cannot afford tuition fees.
